Eligibility Criteria for Btech admission in VIT Vellore

For Indian Candidates:

Qualifying Examination:

Must have completed or be appearing in the final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by a recognized board.

Equivalent examinations like CBSE, ISCE, Intermediate, or Two-year Pre-University Examination are also acceptable.

Qualifying Marks:

General Category:Minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).

Reserved Categories (SC/ST):Minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).

For NRI and Foreign Candidates:

Qualifying Examination:

Must have completed 12 years of schooling (equivalent to the 10+2 system of Indian Education).

English must be one of the subjects in the qualifying examination.

Compulsory Subjects:

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology.

Qualifying Marks:

Minimum average of 55% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or Biology or Biotechnology (PCB) in 10+2 or equivalent examinations.

Selection Process for Btech admission in VIT Vellore

Primary Criterion:

VIT Engineering Entrance Test (VITEEE) Score: This computer-based online test, conducted twice a year (May and December), acts as the primary gateway to B.Tech admission at VIT Vellore. Your performance in VITEEE, measured through your rank or score, forms the strongest influence on your selection chances.

Secondary Criteria:

Academic Performance: Your class 12th or equivalent examination marks (60% minimum aggregate in PCM/PCB) or B.Sc. degree marks (45% minimum aggregate with Mathematics) are considered alongside your VITEEE score. Consistent academic performance throughout your schooling enhances your application.
Entrance Exam Scores (Optional): Although not mandatory, good scores in national entrance exams like JEE Main or SAT Subject Tests can strengthen your application and potentially improve your selection rank.
