Deccan Education Society is graced by the vision and glory of the founding fathers : Father of Indian Unrest and an astute lawyer Lokmanya Shri. Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the great social secular reformer, Shri. Gopal Ganesh Agarkar, the doyen of marathi literature, Shri. Vishnushastri Chiplunkar, and a well-known social worker, Shri. The first step towards igniting the flame of knowledge and awakening the populace, was laying the foundation of the revolution called Deccan Education Society on the 24th October, 1884, which was also the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami or “Dashehra”. On the 13th August, 1885, the Society was registered under The Societies Registration Act, 1860. Within less than three months, the Fergusson College was started on the 2nd of January,1885.

Deccan Education Society always remained alert to the changing needs of the larger social set up for which and within which it functioned. To fulfill the set objectives, DES established various educational institutions in Western Maharashtra. These educational institutions include not only Schools and Colleges, but also technical institutes and autonomous institutes in the field of Management, Law, Agricultural Education and Vocational Training. The DES management believes in ‘Union is Strength’, so guided and aided by educationists, visionaries, philanthropists and ex-students, the Society is endeavoring to instill civic and patriotic values to the core besides providing quality education to its students.

Eligibility for Admission for LL.B

According to G.R. No. CET-2015/C.No.379/MSHI-2, Dated 4th December, 2015 and G.R. No. CET-2016/F.No.84/MSHI-2, Dated 7th April, 2016 the Competent Authority shall conduct the MAH-LL.B.- 3 Yrs. Course CET- 2021 for the admission to the First Year of the Three Year Full Time Professional Degree Course in Law, for the Academic Year 2021-2022. The Online Applications are invited for CET for ADMISSION TO FIRST YEAR of Three Year Full Time Regular Degree Course in Law, viz. LL.B. 3 YEAR in the Government, Aided and Unaided colleges (including Minority Institutes), University Departments, and University Managed Institutions in the Maharashtra State offering LL.B 3 Yrs. Degree Course.

Being a practicing lawyer & also a professor since past 35 years, from the beginning of my tenure, bridging a gap between theory & practice by encouraging inception of activity based teaching learning methods, skill development courses was the principal thought to inculcate study habits & develop interest in overall development of a budding law professional.

As a lawyer should be an epitome of discipline, compulsory attendance policy was proposed & implemented in the college. Student-teacher symposium was an added quality enhancement towards the wider research aptitude & oratory skills development. Internship programme was conducted to facilitate on field training to the students. Various legal & paralegal courses are upcoming initiatives for the co-curricular developments of students.

Infrastructure Facilities

Computer Lab

Considering the fast changing world of technological inventions, all the fields of knowledge are increasingly becoming dependent on computers and allied technology. Today’s legal field is no exception to this scenario. DES SNFLC has facilitated this exposure through an exclusive Computer Section with state-of-art facility to impart training connected with legal education. Today, the college is equipped with a spacious lab for the exclusive use of students having a capacity of 15 users / units at a time. High speed broadband connectivity provides an extended access to vast intellectual resources. Access to online Legal Resources and Search Engines like Manupatra, S.S.C Online and Law – Super are available. The students make use of these facilities as an integral part of their daily operations.

D.E.S. Shri. Navalmal Firodia Law College is moving towards enhancing the technological teaching aids in the classrooms by facilitating it with LCD Projectors and Laptops. Maintenance of Infrastructure: Policies and Procedures

Procedures and policies for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities:

Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College promotes the overall development of the student by facilitating the education with the co-curricular activities and extra-curricular activities. Infrastructure of the institution facilitates the progress of the students where the availability is made to students for their advancement. College has the well-defined policy for the maintenance and utilization of all physical and academic facilities which includes use of e-library facility, access to e-journals of the college library through internet login and password, use of computers and other physical facilities.

Maintenance of the computers in Computer Lab as well as all the computers in the college, Internet and Wi-Fi is carried out by IT department of the parent society i.e. Deccan Education Society.
Maintenance of other physical Infrastructure is carried out by the college through the estate department of the Parent Society.
For the maintenance of library measures like yearly pest control and yearly stock verification is carried out.
College also has annual maintenance contract with the service provider for maintenance of Library Database.
For daily maintenance of the college building housekeeping staff has been outsourced. Separate staff member has been appointed by the parent society for the daily maintenance of Sports complex and Auditorium.
For maximum utilization of college Infrastructure, college building is made available for outside agencies and institutions whenever required for conducting competitive examination. Library can be used by alumni and outsiders after taking prior permission from the Principal.
