SID’s B.Des program admission process is merit-based and quite competitive. Here’s a breakdown of the key stages:

Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED): This online computer-based exam assesses your foundational understanding of design principles, art, craft, culture, environment, and logical reasoning. Scoring well on the SEED exam is crucial for progressing to the next stage.

Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI): Shortlisted candidates based on the SEED score will be called for PRPI. This two-part process evaluates your design potential, creative thinking, and suitability for the program.

Portfolio Review: Prepare a well-curated portfolio showcasing your best design work, including sketches, illustrations, digital artwork, or any design projects you’ve undertaken. Ensure your portfolio reflects your design sensibilities and aligns with your chosen specialization.

Personal Interview (PI): The faculty will assess your communication skills, motivation for pursuing design, design knowledge, and career aspirations. Be prepared to articulate your design inspirations, interests within the design field, and how SID’s program aligns with your goals.

Level 1	Online Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED). The result of SEED will be put up on the SID website as per the schedule. If a candidate qualifies SEED, he/she would be eligible to appear for SID’s Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI). Shortlisting for admission will be based only by specialization selected during online registration.
Level 2	Upload the Portfolio on the portal a day prior to the PRPI. For portfolio specifications Click Here
Level 3	Perform the PRPI Task. This will be shared 3 days prior to the chosen date of online PRPI. Upload the PRPI Task on the portal a day prior to the PRPI.
Level 4	Appear for the online Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI)

Final selection would be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialization.

About Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design ( SEED )

Mode of SEED Exam: Online Proctored (PC/Laptop based exam)

Exam timings: One hour between 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on the test day.

SEED Exam test structure: The SEED will be a 60 minutes exam having 60 questions. The questions could be MCQ, Match the Columns, Fill in the blanks, image-based and comprehension based. The paper will contain a mix of questions related to Visual Sensitivity and Judgement, Observational, Perceptual and Reasoning abilities, Problem Solving, Basic knowledge of Logic of Science and Mathematics, Art, Craft and Culture, Design and Environment.

SID Pune Bachelor of Design Overview

The Bachelor of Design (B. Des) is a four years duration, 160 credit under-graduate degree programmes offered by SID and the degree is awarded by the Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, which is established under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 vide notification No. 9-12/2001-U.3 dated 10th November 2006 of UGC, Government of India.

This programme is aimed at creating professionals who can contribute to the highly dynamic and competitive world of Design.The curriculum at SID offers an optimum mix of traditional skills, new media skills (with state of the art software) and soft skills.
