It started as Ambroli’s English School in Girgaum, Mumbai, and then changed location and name several times before finally being named Wilson School. About Wilson College Mumbai

In 1832 a British boarding school was opened, later becoming St Her Columba School. Ambroli English School is the direct predecessor of today’s university. On December 14, 1861, the University Division of the Wilson Institute became the first private non-governmental organization to affiliate with a university under the name Free Assembly Institution. In 1952, the administration of the university came under the jurisdiction of the Autonomous Board of Governors of India.

Since 1963, the college has been under the management of the John Wilson Educational Society. Wilson College is a Christian minority institution with close ties to the CNI. Its purpose is to form a Christian community and extend its facilities and services to other communities. Wilson College students come from nearly every ethnic, religious, and social group in the country and around the world. The university’s motto is “Fides, Supes, Caritas” (Vishwas, Asha, Prem) – faith in God, hope that the University can achieve the highest levels of moral, spiritual and intellectual excellence, and love that guides). throughout life). After the death of Dr. Wilson in 1875, Rev Dr Dugald Mackichan served as a successor, having already served the college for six months at the time of Wilson’s death. Alumni Association @ Wilson College in Mumbai

Alumni of the University continue to interact with the University at various levels. This association is an active channel for networking with alumni. The Alumni Committee meets regularly to decide on the program. We hold regular reunions every year to bring alumni together to understand and support the University’s activities in various fields. To commemorate the bicentenary of our founder’s birth, Professor John Wilson and other alumni suggested that the university write a letter to the Indian government requesting that a stamp be issued in his honor.
