The college traces its roots back to the Agnel Ashram, which originated as an orphanage (BalBhavan) and a trade school in carpentry in 1957 at Bandra, Mumbai. Established in 1984, Fr.CRCE commenced its journey with a singular program in Production Engineering, initially admitting 60 students. Subsequently, the college expanded its offerings, introducing Electronics Engineering in 1987 and Computer Engineering in 1991, both with an initial intake of 60 students each. In 2001, the institute introduced the Information Technology program with an initial intake of 30 students, later increased to 60 in 2010. The institution has consistently adapted to the evolving technological landscape. Fr.CRCE proudly ventured into postgraduate education, initiating Master’s Degrees in Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in 2005, each with an intake capacity of 18 students. The commitment to academic excellence further extended to doctoral programs, with Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering doctoral programs commencing in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

As part of its commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements, the college introduced a new undergraduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering in 2019, catering to a cohort of 60 students. The evolution continued as the Electronics Engineering undergraduate program underwent a transformation into Electronics and Computer Science. Simultaneously, the Information Technology undergraduate program merged with Computer Engineering.

In response to the rapidly growing field of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, the institution introduced a new undergraduate program in this emerging area in 2020.
