R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics, S.P. Mandali was established in 1942. Located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics, S.P. Podar College Application Process 2024

The College shall accept application forms filled through Mumbai University Online Admission Portal. The step by step to apply for a course shall be as explained below:

· Visit the official website of the university.

· Log in to the Online Admission Portal of the University and apply under the “Pre- Admission Online Registration”.

· “Apply Online” by filling up the registration form.

· A verification code and link is sent to the mobile number provided by the candidate as a confirmation to registration.

· Log in again with the same verification code and proceed to fill up the online application form.

· Upload a passport size coloured photograph of the requisite resolution.

· A registration processing fee is to be paid via Demand Draft issued in favour of “The Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai” payable at Mumbai.

· Submit the print of application form along with necessary enclosures in the college as per the schedule.

Infrastructure

The college building was constructed in 1941. It is a Gothic structure with a clock tower. It is located in the central part of the city between Dadar T.T. and Matunga C.R. providing convenient access for Central and Western railway commuters as well as commuters of road transport. The campus has an area of apprx.0.62 acres (2500 sq.mtrs.) and the built in area is 5055 sq.mtrs. The building is in the shape of an inverted T.

The infrastructure supports the conduct of various academic programmes run by the College. The rooms are made available for the conduct of lectures. The facilities available with respect to the electronic and audio visual devices also support the conduct of academic programmes in an appropriate manner. The reading hall with a capacity of four hundred students adequately supports the academic requirements of the students. The classrooms are well equipped with adequate fans, tube lights, desks and chairs to enable a conducive environment for academic exchange through lectures. A few air-conditioned classrooms are available which are equipped with LCD projector. The college has as many as 40 different forums which include statutory bodies such as NCC, NSS, WDC, Extension, IQAC and Students’ Council. Dedicated space is provided for the students with the required resources such that the activities under these forums are conducted without disturbing the lectures conducted in the college.

Library at R. A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics

The Library of R. A. Podar College of Commerce & Economics (Autonomous) Matunga, Mumbai-19 was established in 1941, the same year when the college came into being. The library is located on the second and third floors of the main building. Mr. P. K. Garde was the first librarian serving the college library from 1942-1945. After retirement from the college, Mr. Garde got the opportunity to work as a librarian of the Hammer shield Section of the UNESCO Library. Mr. L. K. Gorey, Mr. B. V. Modgi, Mr. P. V. Ainapure, Mr. M. Ketkar, and Dr. V.V. Deshpande also served as librarians in this prestigious college in the subsequent years. The college library began with a modest collection of a few thousand books and expanded into a substantial collection with 1,20,096 physical books and 2565 bound volumes of national and international periodicals as of the academic year 2022-23. The college library has transitioned from a print-based to an electronic and hybrid format. Additionally, it began to subscribe to online journals, e-books, and electronic databases.
